News you can use:
Senator Edward Kennedy underwent brain surgery yesterday to remove the malignant tumor discovered last month. The operation, which was performed at Duke University, was a success according to doctors. Kennedy was awake during the whole 3.5 hour procedure and afterward said "I feel like a million bucks. I think I’ll do that again tomorrow." HolyShit. Awake the whole time? I mean, I know it's necessary and all but that would really be so not fun. Sounds like a job for a certain super hero I might know.
The fire that burned a large portion of the Universal Studios back lot Sunday was started by a blow torch. Workers were using the torch as they attached asphalt shingles to a building facade. The workers apparently waited for an hour, according to company policy, before leaving for a break. Burned in the blaze was the courthouse square set used in 'Back to the Future' and 'To Kill A Mockingbird'. Maybe the workers should have consulted their flux capacitor before leaving?
Nineteen year old Ross McGinnis was awarded the Medal of Honor on Monday. McGinnis was deployed to Iraq in 2006 when a grenade was thrown into the Humvee he was in with four other soldiers. McGinnis shouted a warning to the others and then threw himself onto the grenade and saved the lives of all four soldiers. The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest military award, which Ross McGinnis so rightly deserves.
News you can lose:
Look for prices at New York's famed Tavern on the Green to go up after they pay out $2.2 million to settle a sexual and racial discrimination case. The restaurant in Central Park was accused of "harassment of employees... at the restaurant, including epithets aimed at blacks, the ridiculing of Hispanic accents and groping women's breasts and buttocks." Just goes to show, no matter how much money you have, you can't buy class.
Word of the Day:
telepathy: communication between minds by some means other than sensory perception
If you had telepathy, you would know what sentence I am thinking of. (Isn't it a good one?)
1 tips left at the bar:
There's duplicates of the burned sets, right? But still, how is Marty going to get back to the future now?!
