While You Were at the Bar 5/12

Welcome to the bar! (We would so shout your name every time you came through the door if we knew it.)

News you can use:

Tornadoes and severe storms ripped through the Midwest and South Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Twenty-one people have been reported killed from the twisters in Oklahoma, Missouri and Georgia. President Bush has promised federal aid to help the cities recover.

The tragedy in Myanmar is getting worse... The ruling military junta continues to not allow foreign aid workers into the country. It's estimated that over a million people are struggling for food and water in the aftermath. Hampering the relief efforts even more is the unfortunate sinking of one of the first boats carrying aid to the survivors and fear of an outbreak of disease is growing more real.

Today the price of a first class stamp goes up to 42 cents. I hope you bought scads of Forever stamps the last time the USPS hiked the price because they are still good (hence the name forever).

News you can lose:

Whew! Crisis averted. Michael Jackson said Sunday that his 2,700 acre Neverland Ranch will not have to be auctioned off in the foreclosure sale set for this week.

Word of the Day:

parsimonious: sparing in expenditure; frugal to excess

You know dang good and well that the Duggar family is parsimonious.

With your green thumb, Megan, I bet you grow some beautiful parsimoniouses.

I know Grey's Sloane would be on a lot of our lists this week if he character wasn't quite so parsimonious.
