I am so very happy about our recent clamshell bonus here at the bar, which incidentally is the best place of employment EVER. Five hundred smackers! What will I do?
Easy: I’m buying theater tickets.
That’s right, I’m (apparently) a theater geek. I used to classify a very small handful of musicals as watchable, such as Annie, and Grease, and White Christmas. Then I met Mamma Mia! and it was all over. Until I went to my very first Broadway show last month, The Lion King, and then it was really, really over. I *heart* the theater and don’t care who knows it! (Ruby. Don’t judge.)
So, I’m going to take my 500 clamshells from the Clamshell Fairy and buy theater tickets for some Broadway production here in our state. And, since I can’t choose, and because I don’t mind sitting in the nosebleed section, I’m going to buy tickets for every single one that interests me. Screw choosing, I’m going for it all: Mamma Mia! Annie. Mary Poppins. Wicked. Beauty and the Beast. Cinderella. Grease. And Phantom. That should do for now. I’m only sad that tickets to Legally Blond aren’t available in the 2010 season.
What exactly has come over my snarky self with this newly found theater love? I have no idea. It has simply become clear to me that the world would be a much better place if we all broke into song and choreographed dance numbers at regular intervals.
Thanks, Clamshell Fairy! xoxoxoxo, pen

I like the way I get called out specifically - and rightly so, Pen, rightly so. I will SO judge you and your show tune ways! I do like Grease, though, particularly Rizzo!
This was completely unexpected! I can't say I understand, but I think the clamshell fairy would be very proud!
Wicked is great.
Beauty and the Beast, not so much, at least in my opinion. Granted, I saw a community version and not a Broadway production, but my issue was with what they added in terms of songs/story. I vote for the movie :) Save your clam shells for a different show.
Good to know! The Lion King was pretty much right on with the movie, so it's good to know they're not all like that.
Oooh, I LOVE theater and Broadway especially, I will so tag along! please, please, can I? huh? huh? If our clamshells cover the cost of travel, too.
Yeah, I've heard Lion King is fabulous. Beauty & the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies, so that's why I found the additions they made (not for the better) so disappointing.
(Some songs to push the theme of him going from beast to man that felt like getting hit over the head with a 2x4. And if I remember one to make Gaston even more obnoxious...but maybe I'm making that up, since I've tried to erase the show from my memory.)
