News you can use:

An 18 year old high school senior from Chesterfield, South Carolina was arrested Saturday for possesion of materials to make a bomb, a bomb that he planned on setting off in his high school. The teen had kept a diary for over a year detailing his plans for bombing the school including detailed maps. His parents called the police after ten pounds of ammonium nitrate was delivered to their house and they found the journal.

Pope Benedict XVI ended his visit to the United States Sunday by holding mass at Yankee Stadium in New York. Almost 60,000 people were in attendance to hear the leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Indy Racing League driver Danica Patrick made history by becoming the first woman to win an Indy car race. She battled it out with Helio Castroneves in Japan in what would become a fuel strategy race. Patrick, who is 26, won on what was her 50th start in Indy racing.

News you can lose:

Chelsea Clinton was in Philly recently and went on a gay pub crawl where she was met with lots of adoring fans. The names of three of the clubs: Woody's, Bump and Sisters. How apropos!

Word of the day:

portent

It is especially portent for you to use this word in a sentence.

Friday's WOD, salubrious, means "favorable to health; promoting health; healthful". Congratulations to Ashley for her sentence " The hair gel was so salubrious, it gave him a slick pimp style for hours and hours."

Do any of you parents worry every day that your child will be the one making the bomb? I mean, not that I see anything in particular in my kids' personalities that would suggest this dark outcome, but holy shit. I think if I raised That Kid, I would go into hiding for the rest of my days. How could you live with it?

The smell of that skunk in our backyard sure was portent.

absolutely!! It is a huge - hopefully irrational - fear.

Bubba wanted to go camping, but he erected such a portent, Bobbie Ann wouldn't sleep in it and made him take her home.
