Rock It. Check It. Just Do It.

Vote, people.

Today is ELECTION DAY.

Whatever your party affiliation - or even if your party affiliation is "Yes, I like to" - get out and vote. Whether you want to say "yes we can" or "you betcha" - it's your right to do it. Pachyderm or pack mule, get on your feet and make your way to the polling place. It's time for change - whatever you think that means...a changing of the guard, a changing of the party in control, a changing of the name that comes after President. And you need to help usher in that change. Be a maverick. Be an agent of change. Please, please, please - exercise your right.

If you're waffling, watch this scene from Iron-Jawed Angels, HBO's film about the women's suffrage movement. If it doesn't make you want to go out and vote, I don't know WTF will.

It's your voice. Use it.

AND...Starbucks will give you a free coffee if you voted. My poor a$$ is headed there this morning!

I didn't get to vote early yesterday (and thus no report on the sticker design). But you rest assured that I'm carrying my happy ass out there today! (And will duly report back.)

Ben & Jerry's is giving out free ice cream and Krispy Kreme free doughnuts. . .so I hear as well. Sucks if you voted early! Not that I drink coffee or have a B&J or KK nearby.

I voted on my way to work. My polling place is an elementary school, so I went at 8:45am (polls in Texas opened at 7am). There were only 2 people in front of me in line, and when I was done the (very smart) PTA was having a bake sale outside. I then bought 2 bags of oatmeal raisin cookies to support the neighborhood school & went to work. I was voter #137 this morning.

I know that sounds like a low number, but I did learn that my precinct has a 52% early voter average during a normal, boring run-of-the-mill election.

BTW - Iron-Jawed Angels was an awesome film. Should be required viewing in high school. And maybe every year before elections. Sorta like "The Sound of Music" every Easter season.
