While You Were at the Bar 8/7

News you can use:

A Texas man is on trial for his role in a swinger's club that forced children as young as 5 to have sex for paying customers to watch. One very brave girl, now 11, is testifying against 'Booger Red' and telling horrible details about her life at the club. Two other men charged in the case were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison after each jury deliberated less than five minutes. This guy looks like a TOTAL CREEP, y'all.

The government of Miami-Dade county, Florida is reeling after 56 of its employees are arrested in a big OxyContin fraud case. The employees allowed a physician, who was also arrested, to prescribe them medically unnecessary OxyContin and then sold the pills to another defendant. The employees then submitted the claims to their publicly funded medical insurance for reimbursement.

The U.S. Olympic team will have former Sudanese refugee Lopez Lomong carry the flag in the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. The selection of Lomong by all of the team captains will undoubtedly stir some debate about China's handling of the situation in the Sudanese region of Darfur.

News you can lose:

The Police (ROOOOOOXXXAAANNNE!) will be done with their reunion tour today with their last performance at Madison Square Garden.

Word of the Day:

spoony (adjective): 1. Foolish; silly; excessively sentimental 2. Foolishly or sentimentally in love

Doesn't the word spoony just make you giggle like a schoolgirl with a mad crush on the Jonas brothers?
