While You Were at the Bar 8/5

News that you can use:

The Phoenix Mars Lander may have found signs of a toxic substance, perchlorate, in the Martian dirt. Further tests are needed to determine if the perchlorate, which is used in rocket fuel, is naturally in the dirt or if it was there from contamination from the spacecraft.

Bruce Ivins, the man the FBI believes was behind the anthrax mailings in 2002 which killed five people, may have had a strange obsession with the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. In a very odd twist to a most odd case, the FBI believes that Ivins drive to the campus of Princeton an mailed the laced envelopes in a mailbox that was about 100 yards from where the KKG stored their rush materials and other property. Ivins committed suicide last week as authorities were preparing to indict him on murder charges.

Yesterday was Senator Barack Obama's birthday, just one week shy of Miss Obama Mama Niki's birthday. He spent part of his day in Lansing, Mich. focusing on the energy crisis.

News that you can lose:

In case you have been living under a rock like me, the Jolie-Pitt chirrins have made their magazine debut. Side note: I heard on the radio that part of the deal with People magazine included the stipulation that they will no longer refer to the happy couple as Brangelina. Apparently that gets under their skin as much as it does some of the Smartini girls!

Word of the Day:

sapient (adjective): wise; sage; discerning

If I was a sapient girl, I would not have posted the video of me singing and dancing like a fool.

What are the chances of the toxic substance that IS found in rocket fuel NOT to have come from the, um, rocket that just landed to collect the sample? hmmm. That kind of cracks me up.

Ah, that's funny, because I just saw reference to them yesterday as Brangi and I thought, "well, that's a new angle" That would be too funny if that's how People got around their agreement!

*maybe* you won't be the only fool this week.
