While You Were at the Bar 7/7

News you can use:

The G8 Summit begins today in Japan. The leaders of the United States, Japan, France, Britain, Germany, Canada, Italy and Russia will gather and discuss topics such as climate changes, oil prices, a suffering global economy and an even more suffering Africa. Africa's plight will take center stage of the three day meeting, with 7 African leaders joining the opening day of the summit.

An American pilot was killed in a crash in Mexico Sunday. The pilot was flying a USA Airways cargo plane full of auto parts when it went down west of Monterrey, Mexico. The co-pilot, also an American, survived the crash with major injuries and burns.

Tropical Storm Bertha is whipping away in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to be elevated to hurricane status. Over the next few days Bertha should gain strength, although it is not known whether she will hit land. It's killing me that this storm's name is Bertha. Something about a 'big ol' butt' is coming to mind...

News you can lose:

Somebody in Florida decided to send a rather large shipment, via FedEx, to Baltimore. A 200 pound shipment, as it were. Of marijuana. Oh, and it got delivered to the wrong address. The intended recipient was arrested and the sender's identity is being investigated. Holy smokes!

Word of the Day:

palaver (noun): idle talk

Look, enough palaver, buddy. Are you going to buy me a drink or not?

Holy smokes is right! Someone clearly had lost a few brain cells when they decided to attempt that shipment, right?
