While You Were at the Bar 7/15

News you can use:

The new cover of The New Yorker magazine has all kinds of people stirred up, as well it should. The cover, which is a caricature of Barack and Michelle Obama as all of the things right wingers have tried to allude about them. I sort of see the point that The New Yorker was after, but then again, I think that's taking it a little too far. Anything to sell a mag, though, huh?

President Bush lifted an executive order that banned offshore oil drilling on Monday. He urged Congress to follow his lead and change the law that banned it as well. Critics say that the American people won't see any effect from new drilling for at least several years and that this may not be the best solution to the oil dependency problem.

Spectators at the All-Star Game's Home Run Derby were treated to a record breaking show by Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers on Monday. Hamilton hit 28 homers in the first round, smashing the previous record of 24 from 2005.

News you can lose:

Comedians Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have broken off their five year relationship.
