While You Were at the Bar 7/1

News you can use:

Somebody needs to send buckets of rain (sans lightning) to northern and central California. They have over 1000 wildfires burning there and have to decide which ones to tackle and which ones to let burn, burn, burn. The ones left burning could do so for weeks or even months. This needs to become a saturated news story, pronto.

Only part of the World Trade Center memorial will be done by the 10th anniversary due to construction being behind schedule and over budget.

Oh my word. A ride at Six Flags over Georgia is closed after it decapitated a teenager Saturday. Authorities believe that the boy scaled two six foot fences and went into a restricted area, placing himself in harm's way. How awful, no matter what the cause.

News you can lose:

A giraffe is to blame for the escape of some zebras, camels, llamas and pigs from a circus in the Netherlands. The tall one kicked a hole in their cage and the animals went roaming around a neighborhood until they were calmly caught. How many times would you blink before you accepted the fact that there was a zebra in your front yard?!

Word of the Day:

indigent (adjective): extremely poor; not having the necessities of life, such as food, clothing and shelter

When we all get cast away on our island, we would be indigent if it weren't for our 5 items!

3 tips left at the bar:

That giraffe story totally sounds like a cartoon movie, doesn't it? Where the hero kicks down the wall and enables all his friends' escape?

These are some crazy news items today! I can't believe I hadn't heard about the Six Flags incident yet. That's horrible. I wonder why they "ruled out reports from witnesses that said he jumped the fence to retrieve a hat he lost on the ride" and choose to believe he was just trying to get somewhere faster. And he had a friend with him!? wow. I first thought it was a suicide attempt or something, but it truly was an accident and that's horrible.

The giraffe busting everyone out is pretty amusing and it would be so wild to wake up, look out and see Zebra and Camels roaming in the front yard. I think it's cute they stayed mostly together in a pack!

i can't believe indigent is the word of the day! i deal with indigent folks every single day - trust me, even on a deserted island, none of us are indigent. EV-ER.
