While You Were at the Bar 6/11

News you can use:

A Sudan Airways jetliner burst into flames right after landing in Khartoum, Sudan. Reports varied as to the exact cause of the fire and how many perished. One theory is the bad weather in the area Tuesday night, another stated that one of the engines burst into flames shortly after landing. An estimated 200 people were on board but most accounts state that the majority of passengers were able to escape.

The response to the tomato/salmonella outbreak has been swift and expansive. The U.S. tomato industry is fearing the worst, an inevitable 'collapse' in the industry, despite the fact that the USDA has cleared California and Florida grown fruit.

A man has died attempting to hike Washington's Mount Rainier. He and his wife, along with one other man were caught in a blizzard on Monday. One of the hikers made it to a camp where he directed rescuers to the husband and wife below.

News you can lose:

At the cartoon's 50th anniversary, a deal to bring The Smurfs to the big screen has been struck.

Word of the Day:

quidnunc: One who is curious to know everything that passes; one who knows or pretends to know all that is going on; a gossip; a busybody

Keeping up with Brangelina has proved quite the task for us quidnuncs. OR, wouldn't quidnuncs make you think of nuns with money?
