While You Were at the Bar 5/6

Want to know why we are drinking at all hours of the day?

News you can use:

The death toll from the cyclone that hit Myanmar this weekend has reached over 15,000. Winds tore across the area at 120 mph and a 12 foot storm surge added insult to injury. The ruling military party has given unprecedented access to foreign aid workers to enter the country.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are were in one last push for votes before primaries in North Carolina and Indiana today. They have each launched aggressive ad campaigns and engaged in a tiresome tit for tat. Just make a decision already!

The average cost of a gallon of gas hit a new high this weekend, rising to $3.61. Somehow I'm not surprised. Mercifully, diesel went down over two cents per gallon to $4.15, which is still $1.36 higher than this time last year. Holy smokes, no wonder the cost of food has risen!

News you can lose:

Presidential daughter Jenna Bush will wed Henry Hager this Saturday in a ceremony at the Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch. Jenna will have 14 bridesmaids and wear a dress made by Oscar de la Renta. A cross made from Texas limestone will serve as the alter at the outdoor wedding. Fourteen bridesmaids. Sheesh!

Word of the Day:

cloy

Cloy means 1. To weary by excess, especially of sweetness, richness, pleasure, etc. 2. To become distasteful through an excess usually of something originally pleasing.

Take too many oatmeal cookie shots and they will begin to cloy.
