Pen’s Dives

What and where do I like to eat?

1. The pizza places of the Greater Binghamton Area, NY. It’s difficult for me to explain about these pizzas, which may be the number one thing I miss about the place where my sweet little Yankee self grew up. Sheet pizzas. I’m not talking about those Lil’ Caesar knockoffs, don’t even suggest it. I’m talking about these ginormous, takes two hands to carry the box, and you better make sure one is in the middle because it will FOLD, sheet pizzas. Fresh baked crusts, thick but not quite Sicilian, homemade sauces, lots of cheese. YUM. My very favorite was Vestal Bakery, which most of my family did not enjoy because it was sloppy, but that was sort of the reason I loved it. Lots of sauce. A close second would be Nirchi’s. We demolished one every Friday. *sigh. I can practically taste the memory.

And…

restint2. Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen. I feel like I would nominate this new discovery for the real D,D, and D, if you could do such a thing. They serve breakfast all day, and the specials are hot. The fruit is so super-fresh, and don’t even get me started on the shrimp bisque, which is beyond words. K.Lo likes to point out the stars and the moon. And here are the menus, which I will let speak for themselves. Prime Rib Philly Sandwich, anyone? Incredible, affordable tastiness. And there’s a disco ball in the bathroom.
