While You Were at the Bar 4/11

News you can use:

Followers of Warren Jeffs (who was convicted last year of being an accomplice to the rape of a 14 year old girl) had their polygamist compound raided recently. Four hundred and sixteen children were taken into state custody in Eldorado, Texas after a 16 year old girl called a local abuse shelter and reported rape and abuse in her marriage with a 49 year old man. *Polygamy would fizzle out quickly if the wives took some notes from my book. Who in the hell wants more than one of all this sass?!*

American Airlines is expected to ground another 570 flights on Friday, making the total number scratched since Tuesday top out at 3,000. Federal inspectors have found fault with the wiring on the MD-80 jets' landing gear. *Anyone up for a trip?*

The Marine who is accused of killing a pregnant colleague who had accused him of rape was arrested in Mexico Thursday night. Cesar Laurean is accused of murdering Maria Lauterbach, who was 8 months pregnant, burning her body and burying her in a shallow grave in his back yard. Mexican officials agreed to extradite Laurean back to the U.S. only under the assurance that he will not face the death penalty, as is their policy. *Um, what? The Mexican government is soft when it comes to U.S. criminals?*

News you can lose:

In an apparent American Idol shocker, Michael Johns is eliminated. *I have no idea if this is a shocker or not... this is what they tell me.*

Word of the Day:

Afflatus

Can you use this in a sentence, even if you don't know the definition? Take a shot of liquid encouragement and then leave your best guess in the comments. The definition and best sentence will be in Monday's post!

OMG, I feel smarter already!

Afflatus: The duck in that insurance commercial was hit by a truck this morning, and is now, without a doubt, afflatus.

good to know, except I hadn't watched the results show yet, dang it!! Who knew you'd be reporting on it, ugh! I loved Micheal Johns and I am very shocked. He wasn't that bad this week. And he rocked it the past several weeks. *sigh.
