Like barmaid Megan, I am a tatt-less gal. (Probably tactless at times too, Megs; you're not alone!)
Sorry, ladies. Hate to disappoint, but I just hate needles. Hate 'em, loathe them, won't go near them. Let's just put it this way - when I learned that I wouldn't need a blood test to get my marriage license last year, I nearly did cartweels, I was so happy.
And, I have to say, I do worry about what the tatt would look like once I'm 40, 50, and 60-plus years old. I have a vivid memory of one of the football players at my high school that had a Mighty Mouse tattoo on his arm, and I always wondered if he'd regret it when he got older.
(By the way, high school friends - bonus points for who can remember who this was!)
The one tattoo that I can say I like is one that my friend Ben has. It's the Japanese symbol for courage - which I think is pretty cool. Abstract, not trendy...definitely not Mighty Mouse. However, when I asked Ben today to remind me what the tattoo symbolized, he replied, "It means courage. But, to be fair, I don't know Japanese and I really have no idea what it means. The tattoo artist could have inked 'I am a monkey's ass' into my shoulder, and I wouldn't know it."
Bonus points again to the smartini gal that can find the Japanese translation of "monkey's ass."
1 tips left at the bar:
Although I myself have 2 tattoos, I do agree with the prospect of having a sagging tattoo and some of those ideas on your body aren't nice. I mean really, who wants a mouse and cheese on their back? (I actually saw it done on LA Ink!) I will have to say that the sweetest tattoo I have seen recently was done by a friend who had his first child, and they thought she wouldn't make it. He had her actual footprints, date of birth, weight, and length tattooed over his heart. AHHHHH! I wouldn't want my hubby to do that, but isn't it such a touching idea?
